Moving On...

  Learn, Out of the Box

10th July 2013 is my last day with Pratham India and this project. As I move to the US, and join the Pratham US team to help with its fundraising efforts, I have to leave a role that I have come to thoroughly enjoy.  The last 1.5 years, since the Learn, Out of the Box project started, have been tremendous for me.   The learnings that I’ve had in rolling out the biggest project of my career so far, is unparalleled.

Over the last 2.5 years at Pratham, I’ve learned the intricacies of the education sector in India.  With this project, I’ve learned the impact technology can have on the education sector, and its limitations.  At a more personal level, I’ve matured as a “leader” and really started understanding what it takes to lead a team and motivating them towards a common goal.   I was forced to work in areas I had no experience in – which lead to a sharp capacity building, not just for me, but for the entire team.

As expected, leaving comes with a lot of sadness - from leaving a project that I’ve been a part of from day-1, to leaving the Indian operations of an organization that I completely believe in, to leaving a city and a country that I loved living in.

The easiest thing about leaving the project is in knowing the fact that there is an amazing team that exists, that is highly competent and will do its best to make sure that the project is impactful.  The easiest thing about leaving the organization is that I’m not – and joining them in the US, even though the role differs.
Despite all the sadness, I’m equally excited about my new role in a new location! I definitely plan to regularly keep in touch with the team and get the latest updates on the project, and of course follow the blog regularly.
