Staff Training: Day 2

After a relaxed Day 1, we shifted gears to begin covering the more serious session.  However, ‘serious’ isn’t really the right adjective to you use.  We do not even want our children to learn in a serious classroom setting and, in keeping with that ethos, we tried to ensure that all our sessions covered important learning but also stayed light hearted, interesting and therefore conducive to learning.

On Day 2, our regional program managers were exposed to a variety of sessions which covered:
  • Giving new staff members and fellows a chance to explore the WebBox in a hands-on way
  • Discussing the structure of the Learn, Out of the Box team as well as partner organizations and support systems
  • Learning about roles and responsibilities of different team members
  • Understanding the end-to-end process of working with a school
  • Learning how to use more advanced features of excel effectively
Radhika Zahedi, our guest speaker from Day 1 returned on Day 2 to conduct a session on innovative teaching methodologies for classrooms.  For this, she used activities from our Maths and Science content on the WebBox.  The sessions were both interactive and enjoyable since she made sure that the spectators also become participants.

This is why we had full- grown adults learning about measurement by measuring each other’s smile or learning about body movements and the use of joints by a pretending they have a joint or
two missing. The session basically focused on how can we innovate in the class room and foster a fun classroom environment which naturally promotes learning.

We would again like to thank her for all the hard work she has put in making our trainings more engaging.
