Attending InspirED!

The Learn, Out of the Box team spent last weekend (8th and 9th of December) attending the InspirED Conference, organised by Teach for India, in Mumbai.

The team spent time at the conference interacting with various people involved in the field of education; we set up a stall at the education exhibition to talk about our project and about Pratham; but our team also used this time to attend various sessions and workshops.

We tried to cover a broad base of sessions, trying to attend those dealing with innovative ideas for teaching, sessions specifically related to our core area of work and our program (technology, assessment etc.) and broader, industry specific discussions as well. Some of the sessions our team attended were:
  • Transformational Teaching
  • Ground Breaking Innovations in Ed Tech
  • Innovative Methods for Teaching Math
  • Building Alliances for Excellent Education
  • Achieving scale: How to effect system change through smart scaling strategies
  • 21st Century Assessment Practices
  • The Montessori Model: Making it work in your classroom or school
  • Thinking Mathematically

The conference was attended by a wide gamut of professionals working in the field of education, ranging from NGO representatives, educationalists, teachers, school administrators and private firms. It proved to be a great place to interact with others working in the same space.

Additionally, the sessions too served as great forums to discuss focused ideas on specific topics. Some introduced us to new ideas, while other served as a great place to discuss and bounce ideas around.

All in all, we think InspirED is a great concept and is a much needed opportunity to bring together members of the educational fraternity and inspire learning across the board. It was most certainly an enriching experience for us and we hope TFI will continue to organise this conference in the coming years, we would be sure to attend!
